Try it on first

Neo style life jackets are designed to stretch and provide a snug fit. Before using the life jacket try it on (zip it up, buckle the belts and cinch them down) and test to make sure it fits properly. Pull up on the shoulders of the life jacket and if it slides up to your chin or ears then the life jacket is too large and should be returned in exchange for the appropriate size.

Use a tape measure to accurately determine your chest circumference. While keeping your arms down by your side, measure around your upper body, under your armpits and over the fullest part of your chest and shoulder blades.
